The best way to discover Victoria!
The 200-acre Beacon Hill Park is a green oasis in the middle of downtown Victoria. Owned by the city since the late 1800s, the park was named for two masts that sat atop a nearby hill, serving as a beacon and navigational aid for sailors. Today, Beacon Hill Park boasts beautifully-landscaped open spaces, picturesque bridges, lakes and ponds full of ducks and other waterfowl, and a pristine alpine and rock garden.
The park also features a number of walking trails, a childrens farm and petting zoo, sports fields and playgrounds, a band shell for summer concerts, and a 128-foot-tall totem pole that arrived there in 1956. Beacon Hill Park is a popular spot for picnicking and is a favorite location for those who enjoy bird watching.
